Disney World's Animal Kingdom
If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World, you’re likely wanting to know what to expect from Animal Kingdom. While they’re all my favorite, this often overlooked park is special to me for many reasons.
There are things happening all around you and if you’re not paying attention, you’ll miss them. In fact, there is a lady in the leaves named Divine and she blends in with a giant ivy wall. Send us a picture after your trip if you are able to find her!
They offer a safari that will blow you away. The Kilimanjaro safari ride has actual animals surrounding you while you are in the jeep. They are not caged in. It is like going on a real safari ride. Talk about an attraction that changes every time you ride it!
Something that not a lot of people realize is that the shows at Animal Kingdom are amazing. The Festival of The Lion King is my favorite show in all of Disney. The acrobats… the music… it’s all incredible.
Now let’s talk about what they’ve been able to do with Pandora. When they first opened it, the night came to life. The glowing side walks. The beating of the drums. The avatar language. It’s really magical what they’ve done with it all.
I used to think that Animal Kingdom, since it’s title, was just a big zoo but that is not the expectation that anyone should have - it’s so much more than that.
Here are the top 5 attractions you don’t want to miss while you’re there:
Avatar Flight of Passage
This is one you have to see to believe. Pay attention to what you can see, what you can smell, what you can feel.
Kilimanjaro Safari
A new experience each time led by an amazing guide to tell you all about the animals and trees that you will see. We like to try t o ride it at least twice at different times of day to see what new animals we can find!
Expedition to Everest
For the roller coaster lover in all of us.
Kali River Rapids
This is such a fun and exhilarating ride. PSA: you will get wet.
Na’vi River Journey
You will be left in awe of this ride. Between the design and the new technology this is the most real life-like ride you will get to experience as of yet.
Don’t skip out on eating at:
Tusker house
Featuring a family-style menu, African fare, and a character meal.
Pizzafari
Featuring some of the best pizza in all of Disney.
Flame Tree BBQ
Featuring BBQ, salads, and more!
Tiffins
Featuring international cuisine in a setting inspired by adventure.
Satu’li Canteen
Featuring healthy grains and protein set in an old RDA mess hall.
Animal Kingdom is such a special place. You do not want to miss out on this one- especially if you and your family love animals!
